Paperless Picture of The Day Morning Meeting Work Digital Resources

By Professional Development and Teacher Prep

Do your students need highly engaging morning meeting digital resources or a picture of the day to start off their morning? Morning Meeting Picture Slides are important to utilize to develop strong relationships with students and peer-to-peer relationships.  The picture of the day allows for deeper conversations and the building of a strong classroom community, which in turn raises academic achievement skills. The digital resource has many diverse pictures where everyone can feel represented.

How I Use Picture of The Day

We use a picture of the day every morning during our morning meeting routine. The morning meeting slides are projected on our screen for all students to see. Students are asked to infer, visualize, synthesize, and create connections with the picture. Looking closely at a picture is an important reading skill for students to develop to create inferences about what they are reading.

Additionally, The picture of the day can be used for writing prompts or centers. Students can look at the picture and write a story based on the picture.

This is also an excellent resource to use with your remote learners. You could assign one or more morning meeting slides to their learning management system for morning meetings and writing or reading activities.

“Morning Meeting is an engaging way to start each day, build a strong sense of community, and set children up for success socially and academically.” -Responsive Classroom

“Morning meetings are an excellent way to help students transition from home to school and help them get ready to learn. In addition, these meetings can help you connect with your students, help students build relationships with each other, and promote an overall sense of community in the classroom.” -Centervention

The topics and what is included:

  • 180 pages of editable Google Slides.
  • Diverse, beautiful pictures.

R Words - Speech Therapy - Prevocalic & Vocalic - Sentence & Conversation

By The SLP Curriculum

The WRONG ANSWERS ONLY! speech therapy articulation game was created to target the "th" sound in sentences to improve generalization and carryover in conversation. Use these initial, medial, and final r sound task cards for a super fun individual or group session. These flashcards can be paired with your students' favorite activities!

Get excited for tons of laughs in your next Speech Therapy Session!!

WRONG ANSWERS ONLY! is a super fun speech therapy game that will elicit a high number of trials while practicing speech sounds. Your students will love this game and keep asking for more!

This articulation resource was created in order to help Speech Language Pathologists target prevocalic "r" and vocalic "r" (intial /r/ and final /r/) at the word, sentence, and conversational level. Target carryover of initial /r/ and final /r/. This will encourage generalization of sounds in speech for the phonological process of gliding of liquids. We know that initial-r and final-r are very difficult sounds, so let's make them fun to practice. Research shows that children learn much quicker while engaged in play. This is the perfect game to help our students produce their sounds more quickly.

This is a great resource to use when children are stuck at the word level of a sound. Students will be very motivated to produce their sounds in these silly sentences.

Included in this resource:

  • 12 prevocalic "r" (initial "r") task card question prompts with the following words: rain, rhino, rug, robot, rose, ring, rainboot, rocket, raspberry, rabbit, reindeer, rake, rainbow
  • 6 monosyllabic "er" task card question prompts with the following words: stir, purse, earth, bird, turn, shirt
  • 12 bisyllabic final "er" task card question prompts with the following words: tractor, treasure, hammer, clover, spider, farmer, sweater, zipper, blender, plunger, flower, scooter, feather
  • 12 mixed vocalic "r" task card question prompts with the following words: iron, ear, guitar, chair, mustard, airplane, fire, popcorn, scarf, hamburger, ornament, garbage, smores, pear
  • 4 Title cards
  • 4 word list cards

This resource can help target the following:

  • Phonological Processes: gliding of liquids, labialization, initial consonant deletion, vowelization
  • Sound production for children with Dysarthria or weak articulatory musculature
  • Myofunctional disorders leading to lack of posterior tongue bracing
  • Articulation disorders to target initial /r/, final /r/, medial /r/
  • generalization and carryover of R production in sentences and conversation

Used in Mixed Groups!

Vocabulary: State meaning of words, along with synonyms and antonyms.

Wh- questions: Ask who, what, where, when, why questions about each word.

Sentence production: Elicit full sentences containing each elicited word.

Complex Sentences: Use "because" to state the reason why an answer is wrong

"The Napping House" Literacy Integration Lesson Plan

By Lara Hocheiser

Move and breathe through a childhood classic. The Napping House by Don and Audrey Wood has been a favorite story in my classes for years, and with a librarian’s suggestion, I brought it to life through yoga for the first time in 2012. Now accompanied by our beautiful illustrations, we can use this yoga sequence to promote a lifelong love of learning, reading, and healthy habits.

Each of the characters in the story is paired with a yoga pose, and each page adds another character in order. As the sequence builds, the poses come together in a beautiful flow. Do the poses as you read, or read and then do the poses—whatever feels the best to you.

This lesson plan is a perfect resource for teachers, parents or clinicians who want bring the story to life with movement. We’ve included a story script and a list of poses so children can learn the yoga sequence.

The Napping House Literacy Integration is a 14-page PDF download that you can view on your phone, tablet, computer or print to paper.
This download contains the following:

  • The Napping House Lesson Plan designed for kids ages 4-10

  • List of yoga poses, props and key themes that relate to the story

  • Story script to read along with The Napping House

  • Guided relaxation, meditation script, crafts, and group activities

  • The Napping House yoga sequence poster, with nine (9) poses

With love from my heart and my team to you!
