What Is Included: Task 1: Create Your Apple Playlist Task 2: Descriptive Paragraph About Your Playlist Task 3: Cover Art Design Task 4: Reflection Questions (Equity and Inclusivity) Rubric I typically give this assignment out at the beginning of the school year to get to know my student’s taste in music. It takes between 4-6 periods to complete and is appropriate for grade 5-8. Please note: This assignment works best if you are able to access Apple Music. As a teacher, you could always set up a free account to show to your students or ask your students if any of them already have it and would be willing to show the class how it works. Spend some time and show them how to use it if you have access to it. You can also see some demos from the Apple website. If you do not subscribe to Apple Music, I highly recommend it. You can still use this assignment without Apple Music with your students and they can reflect on the inclusivity of the playlist that they create. TIPS: 1. Students are more likely to work towards higher levels of achievement when they have access to assessment tools used to evaluate their work. These three student-friendly 2-Point Short Response Rubrics consist of language that students are familiar with and can easily understand. These Rubrics enhance students' understanding of how their work will be evaluated. At the bottom of the rubric, there is a "Scorer" section where the teacher/scorer can provide comments and feedback on students' writing responses. This is an excellent tool for lower level, Special Ed, and ELL students.

These Rubrics can be used for peer evaluation. Students can use these "easy to follow" rubrics to evaluate the work of their peers and provide comments and feedback.

This 20-page ressource will have your students researching Canadian astronauts and astronomers with a series of projects and activities.

In this ressource, you will find:

• Elaborate success criteria and project description.
• Detailed rubric with 4 levels of success.
• A Web-Quest with simple questions and an answer key.
• Cut-out cards with 16 well-known Canadian astronauts and astronomers (your students might pick from a hat or you might prefer to pass them out).
• Detailed informative cheat-sheets I've created for each of those astronauts and astronomers for you to verify their responses (and to avoid you having to look!)
• A self-evaluative task including reflexive questions and self-grading activities.
• A written comprehension piece with questions and an answer key on the history of Canadians in space including important dates, names, missions and events in Canadian space history.
• Graphic organizers to prompt students to verify their sources of information and to keep track of their information.

This set of activities is great to leave with a substitute teacher as it could realistically take 2-3 days and includes ample supportive pieces to allow for an easy sub plan.

This is an independent reading preparedness and preparation rubric I use to make sure students come to class prepared to read, and stay focused and respectful to their peers while reading in class. It is a 4 point rubric, and focuses on preparedness and performance. Students use it to self-assess their own reading habits, and set a goal to work towards at the bottom. Then I go in and score them with a different color pen on the rubric, so they can see where they believe they are, and where I believe they are on the rubric.
