This resource is a We Beat The Street test that assesses students' overall understanding of the novel. While there may be only 3-4 text-dependent questions, the rest of the test consists of inference-based questions that require students to think beyond the literal meaning of what is stated in the text. The test includes a total of 33 questions, is separated into fours sections, and is 7 pages long.
The test is formatted in the following sections:

Each worksheet challenges students to explain the meaning or effect created by the same figure of speech found across 6 quotations from Shakespeare's plays. The quotations include some of the most profound and thought-provoking lines from Shakespeare's best plays: Romeo and Juliet, Julius Caesar, Hamlet, Twelfth Night, As You Like It, Othello, Macbeth, King Lear, The Tempest, and more.
