★ 25 Social Cues Worksheet Sample Responses

★ 25 Social Cues Picture Task Cards

★ 3 Editable Version Worksheets

*******************************

This resource is also available in Google Slides, with pre-made text boxes for easy use by you and your students. Each slide includes two instruction tabs—one for restoring deleted text boxes and another for zooming in to enlarge worksheets. These features are especially helpful for students who are less familiar with Google Slides or may need extra support.

*******************************

Social cues—expressed through body language and facial expressions—are a constant part of students’ lives, whether or not they are directly interacting with others. Students with social skills challenges may struggle to interpret these cues, including facial expressions, gestures, and overall posture. Misreading social cues can lead to misunderstandings and difficulties in navigating social situations. Strengthening the ability to recognize and interpret these signals can boost students’ confidence, deepen their understanding of their environment, help them respond appropriately in different situations, manage uncomfortable encounters, and, importantly, prevent potential conflicts.

*******************************

This resource includes 25 practical picture worksheets that help students practice interpreting social cues, such as body language, and responding appropriately. Through these activities, students strengthen their ability to infer people’s feelings and situations, allowing them to choose the most suitable responses.

▶️ 25 Picture Worksheets (Same Pictures in the Task Cards)

**✅ **This resource includes 25 Social Cues Worksheets, available in both printable and digital formats, featuring lines and questions for students to record their responses. Each worksheet contains three questions to prompt student engagement.

  1. What do you notice about this person’s (or people’s) body language?
  2. What do his/her/their cues tell you about his/her/their situation or what he/she/they may be feeling or thinking?
  3. What would be an appropriate thing to do or say to someone in this situation?

✅ Answer Keys | Suggested Responses are included to help you lead effective discussions with your students.

✅ The worksheets feature the same images as the Task Cards and give students the opportunity to interpret social cues, make inferences about a person’s emotions, thoughts, and circumstances, and suggest appropriate responses.

▶️ 25 Picture Task Cards

✅ These Task Cards feature images that illustrate a variety of body language cues. They can be incorporated into larger lessons, used in guided small-group sessions, integrated into whole-class discussions, explored in partner discussions before sharing with the group, or even used one-on-one with a teacher, guidance counselor, or parent/guardian. The images match those featured in the Social Cues Worksheets.

✅ Print the Task Cards on glossy or regular paper and laminate them for durability. You can also organize them on a binder ring for easy access and storage.

Task Cards can be used in several ways:

  • Writing Response: Students analyze a picture to interpret the person’s body language, identifying feelings, thoughts, and circumstances. Prompts such as "Which social cues do you notice?""What do these cues suggest?", and "What is the most appropriate way to respond?" encourage deeper analysis. Students can then exchange papers with a partner, who evaluates the responses and offers alternative perspectives.
  • Discussion: In small groups or as a whole class, students use the Task Cards to identify social cues, interpret their meanings, make inferences about the person or situation, and discuss appropriate ways to respond.

▶️ POWERPOINT (25 SLIDES – EDITABLE!)

**✅ **This resource includes a 25-slide editable PowerPoint. Each slide contains the same images featured in the worksheets and task cards. You can rearrange or resize the pictures as needed and add your own text. This PowerPoint is a versatile tool for guiding your lesson, supporting picture analysis, and encouraging meaningful discussions.

▶️ 3 EDITABLE Social Cues Picture Worksheets

**✅ Editable Picture Worksheet #1: **In this editable version, you may add any picture you like. All other elements on this page are locked and cannot be edited due to copyright restrictions.

**✅ Editable Picture Worksheet #2: **In this editable version, you may add any picture you like and enter your own text in the boxes. All other elements on this page are locked and cannot be edited due to copyright restrictions.

**✅ Editable Picture Worksheet #3: **In this editable version, you can change, replace, and move any element. Nothing on this page is subject to copyright.

Feeling Included and Excluded Social Stories

By Sign with me TOD

This product includes 2 social stories - one that focuses on including others and one that focuses on excluding others. Therefore, students will see the difference between including their friends, family, cousins, etc. and excluding them, and how that feels.

Students will learn about the following: included and excluded and what these words mean, the tenses they are used in, an example of each in a sentence, the vocabulary word and its means - jumping to conclusions, because that can easily happen when someone may feel excluded from something, how you may feel when you are included or excluded, and what to do when you feel excluded to feel better.

The social stories include comprehension questions that relate with the feeling included and feeling excluded social stories. Some of the questions require students to put their feet in the shoes of the characters when they feel included or excluded by a friend, cousin, or family member.
