ANTICIPATION GUIDES

There is ONE Anticipation Guide that comes in two different variations:

▶️ Variation #1:

⭐ *Part 1: *The first section of the Anticipation Guide features a list of statements alongside columns labeled "AGREE" and "DISAGREE." Students are tasked with reading each statement and marking either "AGREE" or "DISAGREE" based on their perspective.

⭐ *Part 2: *The second section of the Anticipation Guide prompts students to choose a statement from the list above and delve into its significance to them. They may reflect on how the statement connects to their own lives, share a personal experience related to it, or elaborate on their thoughts concerning its importance in greater detail.

**▶️ Variation #2: **This Anticipation Guide worksheet format includes a list of statements accompanied by columns for "AGREE," "DISAGREE," and "COMMENTS." Students are instructed to read each statement and mark either "AGREE" or "DISAGREE." They are then encouraged to elaborate on their thoughts or ideas regarding each statement in the designated "COMMENTS" column.

SELF-ASSESSMENT

This resource includes a single Social Cues Self-Assessment. Students will use social cues statements to reflect on their ability to recognize, interpret, and respond to nonverbal signals in everyday social situations. They will score the statements using the following scale: 2 for “Regularly,” 1 for “Occasionally,” and 0 for “Never.”  

Students will use this assessment as a tool to recognize strengths, spot areas for growth, and build stronger, more empathetic communication skills.

This assessment also serves as a valuable tool for opening meaningful reflection, guiding class discussions, or informing future lessons and support focused on developing social awareness, improving peer relationships, and navigating subtle emotional cues in both in-person and digital communication.

Students will then be provided with a picture of each role-playing card where they will be required to role-play what is happening in the picture. There are also a variety of questions asked that relate with each role-playing card. At the end of the product, there are 11 picture cards that can be cut-out. Start school on a positive note as you build classroom community and make your students feel at ease in the classroom. At the beginning of each class or at the start of the day, pull out a quote at random and read it to the class. Leave “I Liked the Quote” slips next to your Inspiration Jar (the container you house the quotes in). When a student feels moved by a quote, they can write down the quote to keep for when they need a little inspiration.

How does media effect one's self esteem?

This package contains 6 lessons and a culminating task that will address this topic.

The package is meant to be taught over at least five lessons. With discussion, each page should easily fill a 45- to 60-minute lesson block.

Lessons include:

- definitions and discussion

- Influence of the Media

- self esteem and music videos

- what happens when a "beauty" company helps people see their beauty?

- evolution of an advertisement (print media/photoshopping)

- overcoming stereotypes and negative comments

- Think about how awesome you are

- Hand of friendship (culminating task)

There is currently no final assessment piece included in this package.

Each lesson, except the last, should be started with a gratitude journal page. The idea behind this it to help students see that they have a lot to be grateful for, regardless of what the media may portray to them. The journal pages shouldn’t take anymore than 5 minutes, max. For photo copying purposes, the journal page is placed before the worksheet, for any given lesson.
