This step-by-step activity groups every aspect of story writing such as: genre, setting, characters, details, etc. It also helps the students with their descriptive writing by asking them targeted questions. This is an excellent tool for beginner writers, struggling writers, or English Language learners.
Use the “Writing Buddy” handout on my TeachShare store along with this resource and your students can become more independent when writing a short story.

Students will enjoy using either Lucky Charms marshmallows or cards to complete Mad Libs. Students will add nouns (the item) or adjectives (the color) to a provided Mad Libs. When they complete this their teacher can have them write their own Mad Libs which they will have a friend complete.
Student will love making nonsense stories for St. Patrick's Day. They will be creative as they think outside the box.

This is a 3 part individual/group assignment where groups (of 4-6) are given a problem based on a well known fairy tale where students have to write and perform their solution to the problem. Students will write out a monologue individually and as a group will write the body of the script. After the groups have resolved their problem, each group member will have a chance to reflect on how their character feels after the resolution of the problem. This activity would be appropriate for middle school students. This package will provide your students with hours of entertainment that include opportunities to write and showcase their creativity.
