This set of three Artificial Intelligence Reading Comprehension Passages with Multiple Choice Questions is designed for students in grades 5, 6, 7, and 8 to explore the fascinating world of AI.

The passages cover:

This package can be used in conjunction with the free iCell app (by Hudson Alpha), which is available for iPad and Android, as well as mobile devices. Note: the iPhone app is not as advanced as the iPad app as it only gives basic definitions of cell organelles. The app is a 3D interactive way for students to learn about plant and animal cells. You can move the cell around to see where the different cell organelles are located and click on the organelles to read basic, intermediate, or advanced, descriptions. I wish there were interactive programs like this when I had to learn about cells! This unit aligns with the Ontario Grade 8 Science curriculum. One way to use this package is have students use the app to explore the parts of an animal and a plant cell. After searching online for basic cell diagrams, I did not find any that looked similar to the app so I decided to draw a plant and animal cell in 3D to match the iCell app. The drawings match up to the cells used in the app. Students can look at the basic, intermediate, or advanced descriptions from the app and colour the cell using specific colours as identified in the handout. An additional set of questions is included to ensure students explore through each of the descriptions of the plant and animal cell. In this product, different forms of energy are reviewed. Students will learn that energy exists in other forms, what energy is, how you can't always see energy, stored energy vs. energy in motion and examples for students to make connections with each, kinetic energy, examples of kinetic energy for students to make connections with it in real life, students will locate and circle the different kinds of kinetic energy, potential and kinetic energy and how it can go back and forth (picture explanations are also included to provide a visual), different forms of energy - electrical, light, sound, thermal, chemical, and mechanical energy are reviewed - their meanings and examples of each along with pictures so students can make connections with what they are learning in their personal life, what matter is and how it is in chemical energy, and energy transformation picture examples are provided. Students will then be required to write down the different types of energy that change to other kinds of energy when they are provided with picture examples. Students will also be required to draw picture and write down the forms of energy that were used to show energy transformation. At the end of the product, students can complete the review that includes short answer and multiple choice questions.

Throughout the product, students will answer short answer comprehension questions to ensure comprehension after reviewing each page of notes.

Introduce your students to the thrilling no prep Soils, Rocks and Landforms Scavenger Hunt! This engaging and interactive activity puts students in the shoes of a geologist mining in a city in Arkansas that is rumored to be full of rare gems that would make the finder rich!

Each student, or group of students, will receive 10 reading task cards related to soil, weathering (chemical and physical), erosion, deposition, fossils, types of landforms and how they are created. The task is not only to read the cards but to solve 10 questions—the catch is that the answer to each question is found on a different card, encouraging students to read all the information thoroughly.

How It Works:

• Students will need to determine the code word for each card by answering the fill-in-the-blank questions.
• Once all the code words have been found, students must unscramble the letters from each code word to discover the final mystery word.
• In addition, they will collect clues to uncover a 4-digit code, which will help them successfully complete their journey.

Failing to unscramble the mystery word or crack the 4-digit code will result in the having failed to find any precious gems. However, completing the mission means students will become a legendary gem hunter and have mined enough gems to become rich!
