Each of the activities can be done individually or with a partner or team, depending on the teacher/student preference. Teacher resources for other related activities include writing prompts that are perfect to use as warm-ups at the beginning of class or to use for a longer writing assignment.

1. A central statement will be announced to the class and you will define the two sides of the debate (Agree/Disagree).
2. Students move to the side of the room that they intend to defend.
3. An embedded timer will be set for 5 minutes, and the debate will start between the two groups.
4. Students attempt to keep contributions to less than 30 seconds each.
5. A new prompt is displayed and we start another round of quick debates.

This fun geography skill activity is great for your students on Valentine's Day! We all know how students get excited on Valentine's Day! Through this activity, not only will they have fun working together or individually to solve the puzzle, but they will also have the opportunity to practice reading absolute location —latitude and longitude — coordinate grid system. Each moment is a teaching moment, and this will allow reinforcement of their map reading skills. They will use the absolute locations that are provided on the key and identify the points on the coordinate grid, drawing one line from one point to another. End the end, they have a photo to color and decorate!

This full-length lesson plan revolves around Shakespeare's mastery of the English language with an emphasis on his knack for coming up with the most compassionate of compliments and scathing of insults. Through a non-intimidating approach, students will have the opportunity to do a little bit of acting and make connections to modern day as they explore Shakespeare's language of love and hate. I am always astounded by the level of maturity of the discussion that arises from this activity as students discuss what makes a compliment or insult particularly effective and from whom it means the most. This is sure to be a lesson that you will use again and again on February 14th.

Looking for a fun game to get your students speaking French? Use this game to have students practice forming questions and speaking French using vocabulary for Valentine's Day.

Included:

French and English version

French only version

Have students work in small groups of 2-4 or project the game and do a whole class activity.

This game includes 40 words. Many of the words will be new to your students as this game is meant not only to practice forming questions, but also to build vocabulary. I like to allow my students to look at the game chart while they play until they’re somewhat familiar with the words.

One student in the small group or class chooses a word on the chart. Other students ask up to 20 questions trying to guess the secret word.

EST-CE QUE…….

… tu es un minéral?

… tu es un endroit?

… tu es un aliment?

… tu es une plante?

… tu es un objet?

The student who has chosen the secret word can answer using the following responses: OUI - NON - PARFOIS - RAREMENT - GÉNÉRALEMENT - PEUT-ÊTRE - CELA DÉPEND - PROBABLEMENT

Alternative game play:

To change up the game and to make it more challenging as well as practicing other skills, have the student who chooses the secret word describe it to others in the group. Instead of asking questions about the secret word, other students listen to the description and guess it.

Jeu de Dominos - French Valentine's Day - La Saint Valentin

This is a free set of 32 dominoes with French and English words related to Valentine's Day. This is an easy, very low prep activity that your students will enjoy playing during the month of February. Print out the game on card stock, cut out, and laminate for years of no prep practice and fun for your students. How do you play dominoes?

Match the French word on the end of one card to the English translation on the end of another card. This vocabulary game is a fun way to help with comprehension and memorization. This game is included in both my primary and secondary bundled resources for Valentine's Day.

Teaching French Valentine's Day - La Saint Valentin vocabulary?  Looking for an engaging way to get your French students to build their communication skills and vocabulary? Taboo is a fun French speaking and listening game where one student has to guess a word based on clues given in French by other students. The catch is that they cannot mention anything that is included in a list of taboo words.

This taboo game is included in my French Valentine's Day Lesson Plan + Activities BUNDLE.

All of the words on each card are written in French and English. This is very useful as many of the words will be new to students whether they are beginners or very advanced. You can easily modify this game to play it with all levels!  You are going to love hearing your students speaking in French to each other about Valentine's Day.

French Taboo Games Growing Bundle

Classic French Taboo Games Bundle - 3 Versions

Object of the game:

One player tries to get his teammate to guess the word at the top of a card. The player must give clues, but he can't use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are written beneath the underlined word at the top of the card.

Teams score points for each word successfully guessed. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Beginner students should be allowed to use the French TABOO words printed on the cards. This will encourage them to use new vocabulary and will help them in forming sentences to use as clues.

Play French scattergories when you need quick, no prep activities to play with your class while they practice their French Valentine's Day / La Saint Valentin vocabulary, oral, and written skills. These categories games includes many activities with a French Valentine's Day vocabulary theme which work well as ice-breakers.

⭐ Valentine's Day Scattergories Game

Players attempt to create answers for each of the four categories on their game. This should be a fast moving game and there are only spaces for six words per category. The MAXIMUM they can write is six words so they have to choose them wisely. Students can be creative and flexible with their answers, but other players can challenge them!

12 games are included with 48 different categories! For younger students you can allow more time for them to think and write, while older students will love the challenge of the timer.
