(FR) MIDDLE SCHOOL CORE FRENCH - JOYEUX ANNIVERSAIRE
By French Made Fun!
This unit study is at the level of your middle schoolers - in Core French (FSL) - both for content and maturity. I was finding materials that matched their comprehension were babyish and they'd be disengaged and frustrated! My material is engaging, animated, not babyish but at their (beginner!) level.
These slides and activities will easily get you through roughly 5 or 6 Core French classes at the 4th - 8th grade age.
This 32 page document provides you with:
16 'teaching' slides:
These will prompt discussions with your students and teach them step-by-step how to make a birthday card (en Français). Students are prompted to answer the questions: "Quel âge as-tu?" "Quelle est la date de ton anniversaire?" and "En quelle saison est ton anniversaire?"
A message du matin is provided with prompts to find les "mots amis," les "mots familiers," and les "lettres fantômes!" I push this a step further with les 8 étapes a l'oral by then getting the students to say their own age, one another's age and then I assess their oral language as they work in partners.
Within the slides, you can edit to add your students' information for their birthdays and the seasons in which they have birthdays!
An oral activity for your students to guess YOUR birthday ("L'anniversaire de mon enseignant") (I usually give a prize to the winner and then everyone wants in on this fun activity)
12 pages of printable activities that follow this same theme, like:
Linking images to words,
Writing the numbers for written numbers (and vice versa),
Drawing candles on cakes,
Counting en Français,
Expressions like: "J'ai ___ ans," and "Mon anniversaire est ____," and "Son anniversaire est ____," etc.
A birthday calendar for the students,
A kinesthetic fill-in-the-blank activity,
A cut-out/decorate cube for asking questions to a partner.
A Google Doodle activity,
A family age/birthday diagram.
Etc.
Cover page + Credits + Video Links & Lyrics.

FRENCH MATHS | CHARTS | DIAGRAMMES | REPRÉSENTATION GRAPHIQUE | SITUATIONS

FRENCH SCIENCE 6 | CIRCUITS | ELECTRICITY | ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS | CARTES/CARDS |

FRENCH | BACK-TO-SCHOOL/RENTRÉE | 4 CORNERS/4 COINS | ICEBREAKER | GET TO KNOW
By French Made Fun!
This is a freebie for you!
This game of "Four Corners" is not new or unique; however, this one will work great for your middle schoolers who need to get up and move, and you'll find they are more apt to share without raising their hands or writing it down. This quick and easy, no prep and no printing activity will allow you to truly get to know them on a personal level very quickly.
It's HIGHLY visual so this could even fly in a Core French classroom (Grades 5 - 9); however, I use it in an immersion setting (Grades 5 and 6). It could comfortably be used in any Immersion or French first-language classroom (Grades 3 - 9). As with all of my products, it's not at all babyish and doesn't feature fonts that are frilly or hard-to-read.
For this activity, simply project and GO. I let my students know that they will have to choose their response and move to the corner of the room that suits their answer. You can either click through the slides, have a student touch your SmartBoard to move them along, or you can use a remote clicker or mouse (I do while I'm playing!) to keep the slides rolling.
This Google Slide Deck features :
Other ways to play:
I hope you have a G R E A T back-to-school, and hope your kids love you! I sure appreciate all of you!
Don't forget to have fun and be real!

Bataille Navale - Passé composé with AVOIR - Regular verbs
By Love Learning Languages - French Resources
Everyone loves a good game of BATTLESHIP, and the French classroom is a better place than any! You can use this classic game format to practice forming the PASSÉ COMPOSÉ using AVOIR as helping verb with regular verbs.
*There is not an answer key included with this resource due to the number of responses possible. I encourage you to allow your students to use a resource that you choose for them to check your answers.
.
➯ This resource is included in my Ça y est, je parle français! French 1 curriculum bundle!
This resource includes 5 versions of the game with both black and white and color copies and instructions on how to play.
All battleship games are also sold separately for $4 each. Check out my collection of BATAILLE NAVALE games!
Just print out one page of the version you want to use per student. Students place boats (which are squares on the game sheets that they will have darkened with a pencil) on the game board. Students play against each other to try to find and eventually sink their opponent’s boats. Check out game instructions in the preview file.
Subject pronouns are written in the vertical column and infinitives are written in the boxes at the top. To choose a square, the player must say the subject and correct verb form in the passé composé using avoir as helping verb. If you wanted to practice writing in the passé composé you could have your students do that.
All of the vocabulary they’ll need is written right on the game sheet and it is all in French. Each game sheet includes two battleship grids and a line separating the two. Students can fold the paper on the line if they want to. One of the grids is for a player to place his boats and the other is to mark and keep track of his opponent.
You and your students may also enjoy my collection of passé composé resources.

French Halloween game - Taboo Speaking game - L'Halloween Français
By Love Learning Languages - French Resources
Teaching French Halloween vocabulary? Looking for an engaging way to get your French students to build their communication skills and vocabulary? Taboo is a fun French speaking and listening game where one student has to guess a word based on clues given in French by other students. The catch is that they cannot mention anything that is included in a list of taboo words.
To get your students speaking even more about Halloween, try out my French Speaking Activity - Halloween - 30 French Speaking Prompts.
All of the words on each card are written in French and English. This is very useful as many of the words will be new to students whether they are beginners or very advanced. You can easily modify this game to play it with all levels! You are going to love hearing your students speaking in French to each other about Halloween.

Object of the game:
One player tries to get his teammate to guess the word at the top of a card. The player must give clues, but he can't use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are written beneath the underlined word at the top of the card.
Teams score points for each word successfully guessed. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.
Beginner students should be allowed to use the French TABOO words printed on the cards. This will encourage them to use new vocabulary and will help them in forming sentences to use as clues.
This French Taboo vocabulary and speaking game includes the following:
What teachers are saying about my French Taboo Speaking games:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "This is exactly what I've been looking for to consolidate and expand vocabulary! I teach a beginners intensive course (IB) as well as intermediate students who've done 2 years of French. Students love being able to guess, even being supported with a dictionary. LOVE the range of levels variety of vocab. Looking forward to the growing nature of this bundle. UN GRAND MERCI!!!" - L.J.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "Love this! Great design, great differentiation of playing for lower levels (or higher levels), and love that there are so many topics! Great words included in each one." - Ashley Lefevre
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "This is a great supplement for multi-level classes. I have students who are francophone and students who have never taken a French class before this year, so a resource like this is very much appreciated." - Missalineous
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "Absolutely loved this and so did my kids. Vocabulary is a weak spot so this is a great resource to help build school related vocabulary. Taboo is awesome!" - Classroom of a Caper
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "A great way to make the students use different vocab to express their ideas!" - Made by Mademoiselle
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "It was sooo good when I used it in my French class. I teach English and French in Spain and I'm decided to use it in both subjects for the coming year. I needed two lessons because the students had so much fun that they asked me to play another day!" - Ester B.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "Thank you! I like how there is a beginner version of the game - perfect for my core French students!" - Janesse M.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "This is my second set of Taboo cards from Love Learning Languages, as the first round with reflexive verbs was a huge hit. Kids again enjoyed this review of vocabulary terms. This can be differentiated for students at various levels of confidence and ability." - Rebecca C.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "This was a very useful resource to purchase and I would recommend it to any junior teacher! Everything you needed was there and it was very organized resource. Looking forward to using it again this year!" - Kathleen E.

J'ai... Qui a? French food vocabulary game - La nourriture
By Love Learning Languages - French Resources
This is a really fun game to practice with your students who are learning vocabulary about LA NOURRITURE, and it involves NO PREP once you've printed and cut out the cards. I've included both a beginner and intermediate version of the game. The beginner version has the words written out and the intermediate version only shows pictures. Have a look at the thumbnails to see what they look like.
➯ This resource is part of my Primary French Growing Bundle
➯ This resource is also included in my NOURRITURE bundle
Each version includes 32 cards. Depending on class size you could either give each student more than one card or have them play with a partner. I recommend printing out and laminating these cards if possible so that you can use them over and over again.
You may also enjoy 30 French speaking questions - La nourriture - Food
Here's how this game works. Once each student has a card (or cards), the one who has the card that says "Je commence" starts the game. He says, for example, Je commence! J'ai une fraise. Qui a une orange? The person who has the card with an orange on it says, J'ai une orange. Qui a du bacon? And so the game goes on until the last card is called and that student's card will say, "J'ai fini!"
Another idea is to prepare two sets of cards, divide your class into two groups and let each group have a go to see which team can get through the entire deck of cards the fastest. If the vocabulary is completely new you could start out with the beginner deck and as the words become more familiar you could move on to the intermediate level. It's really a lot of fun, and though you can play with younger students the older ones love this game just as much.
