Now you have NO IDEA where to start! Have you taught computer science, but want to try something else? Math and computer science are related, but are not the same!\n\nI have your back. I've been teaching math and computer science, including APCSP, APCSA, and Data Structures for almost two decades. I also teach an introduction course. This is part of the course I made up for my intro students. I have a BS in computer science and know what students need to know.\n\nThe second semester of lessons are an extension and not taught in most schools. I researched and created them with a focus on students having fun while using higher level coding techniques. They are geared toward using Java to create forms and games. These sections are by far my students' favorites because they get to use images, GUI components, and animation.\n\nThese lessons are meant to be done over a few days; the idea is to get students doing cool stuff as fast as possible. Programming in Java 17: Timers
By Howlin' Husky Math Games
Hello and welcome!
Are you math teacher and have been thrown into teaching a computer science course? Now you have NO IDEA where to start! Have you taught computer science, but want to try something else? Math and computer science are related, but are not the same!
I have your back. I've been teaching math and computer science, including APCSP, APCSA, and Data Structures for almost two decades. I also teach an introduction course. This is part of the course I made up for my intro students. I have a BS in computer science and know what students need to know.
The second semester of lessons are an extension and not taught in most schools. I researched and created them with a focus on students having fun while using higher level coding techniques. They are geared toward using Java to create forms and games. These sections are by far my students' favorites because they get to use images, GUI components, and animation.
These lessons are meant to be done over a few days; the idea is to get students doing cool stuff as fast as possible. With Java, that is NOT an easy task.
Topics:
Programming in Java 17: Timers
Setting up and starting the Timer
What is a Timer used for?
Animations and the Timer
Moving an object using the Timer
All lessons will come with the following:
a pdf slideshow
a pacing guide with hints for teaching the section and common student
errors
an assignment, differentiated with three different levels!
an answer key in pdf form
an answer key in .java form.
Depending on your style, you could go over the slides as a group, then let students play around. Or you could just give them the slides and assignment and let them go.
Let students explore and make mistakes. Let them talk to each other and discuss their approaches. Programming takes a lot of trial and error and collaboration.
Welcome to the world of programming! It's going to be a blast!

Learning Google Slides - Beginner Lessons | Distance Learning
By Innovations in Technology
Learning Google Slides Beginner Lessons start students with no previous knowledge of Google Slides on a path of learning the most important and frequently used commands to give them a quick start. Each lesson has a short, step-by-step tutorial that includes screenshots to walk students through the new tools they will use in the lesson. Then, they are given a creative task to solve, using those skills to create a presentation. There are four lessons, each taking no more than two (50 minute) class periods.
Files Included with this Lesson
• Teacher Notes and Resources
• 4 Mini Lessons with Tutorial and Creative Project including rubrics
This lesson has been revised to be compatible with the latest version of Google Slides (2-2020) and also includes the older instructions and resources that were included with the original lesson for previous purchasers who are re-downloading the lesson. The older lessons are included in their own folder within the .zip file.
This lesson was created for middle school (grades 6-8) but could also be used with upper elementary or high school students.
This lesson is great for distance learning/remote learning. You can upload it to your school's learning management system (Google Classroom, Edmodo, Canvas, etc.) or share with students via Google Drive.

Programming in Java 11: JSwing- Introduction to JSwing
Topics:
Programming in Java 11: Introduction to JSwing
Using JFrames and JPanels
Adding and using a JButton
Styling components
FlowLayout
Includes starter student code for making a JFrame and JPanel
All lessons will come with the following:
a pdf slideshow
a pacing guide with hints for teaching the section and common student
errors
an assignment, differentiated with three different levels!
an answer key in pdf form
an answer key in .java form.
Depending on your style, you could go over the slides as a group, then let students play around. Or you could just give them the slides and assignment and let them go.
Let students explore and make mistakes. Let them talk to each other and discuss their approaches. Programming takes a lot of trial and error and collaboration.
Welcome to the world of programming! It's going to be a blast!

Classroom Re-Design Group Project using MS Word, PowerPoint & Excel
By Innovations in Technology
Which group can create the best possible classroom, using a given budget and the size constraints of the existing room? Redesign the Classroom Project lets middle schoolers work in a small group to be the architect and interior designer as they measure the existing classroom, determine what new items to purchase, and then arrange their resources into the best possible learning environment.
This project reinforces measurement, math and accuracy skills as students use their imagination and creativity. After taking the measurements, each group brainstorms what they will purchase with their budget and creates a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet (or Google Sheets) to show how they will spend their money. Next, they draw their floorplan to scale (on graph paper, using Web 2.0 tools (www.floorplanner.com or www.homestyler.com ) or Sketchup (a free download available at: http://www.sketchup.com/download) and then arrange the furnishings of the room to the best advantage. Next, students combine their work into a Microsoft PowerPoint (or Google Slides) presentation to explain and showcase their choices. Finally, students reflect on their learning, both about the project and about the success of their team. Note: This lesson is intended for beginning Excel users and was created using Microsoft Excel 2016. It is easily adaptable for different versions and an earlier version template is included.
This project was created for grades 7 and 8 but would be appropriate for upper elementary or high school students as well.
This lesson is great for distance learning/remote learning. You can upload it to your school's learning management system (Google Classroom, Edmodo, Canvas, etc.) or share with students via Google Drive.
