Based off the hit Windows 3.11 game we all knew and loved, Rhythm Sweeper is a progressive game where one slip can end you up on the dreaded mine! This will have your kids reading and mastering rhythms in NO TIME! Students will see a grid of 40 squares on the home page. Each square contains either a link to a rhythm.... or a mine :) I select one student at a time to pick a number. I'll then click on the number and it'll advance to the designated slide. If it's a rhythm, we add that rhythm to the Building Board on the home page. The teacher will click "Back to Game and Building Board" and put the rhythm they just received on the board. As for the rhythms they earned, you can cut out rhythms, write them in dry erase, or have a student keep tabs on the side. Students will now say, sing, or play the rhythm back. Then we repeat! See how it gets progressive? ;) ...until the mine! There are 5 mines in each game, and once the mine is hit, it's GAME OVER! At the end, you can tally up how many beats the class amassed (which is great if you can allow student to add it up as the game has half, quarter, and pairs of eighth notes). Compete against other classes, or themselves! There are 10 files in the pack and each one is completely different (all the rhythms are mixed up and of course, so are the mines) Have fun with this! Using these lesson extensions for the books "'Slowly, Slowly, Slowly,' said the Sloth", "The Very Hungry Caterpillar", and "Does the Kangaroo Have a Mother, Too?" teach fast vs. slow, triplets, and rhythm vs. steady beat. Use the extension lesson for "Rooster's Off to See the World", "Dream Snow" and "The Very Lonely Firefly", to introduce and review the so-mi-la and mi-re-do solfege combination. Use lessons for "From Head to Toe" and "Little Cloud" to move and explore shapes in your classroom. Use "The Very Quiet Cricket" to teach steady beat and whisper voice. Finally, use the book "Pancakes, Pancakes" to teach sixteenth note rhythms. Have the children move and play along, and then reinforce their knowledge with additional worksheets. Adaptable for grades PreK-3rd grade. Worksheets can be printed or used digitally.

Your Kindergarteners and 1st Graders may understand high and low (although they may think it's loud and soft, but this is why we teach them), but can they identify it which way it travels through non-traditional notation?

In "Up, Down, All Around!", your students get a brief introduction of melody, the most important aspect of a song or piece and will venture into the lesson where they will learn to identify melodic direction.

They will be given a multiple choice selection of 3 answers and then asked to identify which answer is UP, DOWN, or is a melody that STAYS THE SAME. Advance the slide and the correct answer will illuminate green!

You can play this one of several ways
_

• Individually by calling students to the board and pointing to the correct answer
• As a class by having them write down the answer on a white board, holding up an answer paddle, etc
• Race each other to the board to press the answer first and assign points (Team A vs Team B)
• Tell the students they have to beat a certain score of right answers (Oh, Mrs. so-and-so's class got 8 of them right, can you beat it?), and then play with one of the methods above!

Play some classical music in the background, and you have a win-win!

Use "Too Much Glue" and "Baa! Moo! What Will We Do?" to teach your students about half notes in a fun and creative way! Have students clap, move and play along with the rhythms and then use the rhythm charts and decoding worksheets to have students practice writing the half note rhythm. Getting ready for St. Patty's day, we bring to you Shamrock Rock!, a series of rhythm reading exercises for your elementary aged kids!

Each series of Shamrock Rock! has 10 rhythmic examples (in 4 different levels, 40 exercises in all) of quarter notes (1 four leaf clover), two eighth notes (2 smaller four leaf clovers in the place of one beat), and a quarter rest (pot of gold)

• Level 1 - Quarter Notes and Eighth Notes
• Level 2 - Adding in Quarter Rests
• Level 3 - 6 beat rhythms
• Level 4 - Split Screen (A and B part)

A link to music is provided for you below to listen to in the background while you perform these rhythms on boomwhackers, rhythm sticks, orff instruments, auxiliary percussion, body percussion, tubanos, handbells, or more!

Introducing the Rock’N’Rollin’ For Preschoolers book from ZS Music Publishing. Rock’N’Rollin’ For Preschoolers is a precursor to the Rock’N’Rollin’ Level 1 to prepare the younger drummer for their music career.

Rock’N’Rollin’ For Preschoolers is a scaffolded book that starts off by teaching Bass Drum and adds on instruments throughout the book. The book is designed for junior drum sets with the idea that these drum sets may or may not have three Tom Drums to accommodate all kinds of sets.

Students will gradually learn the instruments one by one and together. The layout of the concepts are:

• Sticks
• Bass Drum
• Snare Drum
• High Tom
• Mid Tom
• Low Tom
• Ride Cymbal (referred to “Cymbal” in the book).
• Hi-Hats

Upon completion of the book, students can graduate up to Rock’N’Rollin’ Level 1 or Level 1 Encore. If students move to Level 1 Encore, the back of the book is a section to prepare students for Level 1 Encore if they skip Rock’N’Rollin Level 1. For this section, there are 8 pages that have been pulled from Rock’N’Rollin Level 1.

In total, there are 33 “songs” in the book along with activities scattered through our including 4 pages for students to create their own beats.

This book is studio licensed, so you can make as many copies as you'd like! You may not share the file with any other school/studio.

Using these classic books, teach your students about quarter rest! Sing/chant/play along with the rhymes I wrote for the books and add in rhythm sticks for fun! Then use the beat charts and worksheets to reinforce decoding skills as well as teach students to listen and recognize rests as well as practice writing them. "Bear's New Friend" and "Bear Feels Scared" also have recorder and barred instrument parts that would be fun for the older grades. "Bear Can't Sleep" has an ostinato part as well. Worksheets can be printed or assigned digitally through the Easel function. Adaptable for grades PreK-3.

No need to have drums, recorders, or even auxiliary instruments for this one! If you don't have access, are traveling to rooms, or want to give a change to your curriculum try "Body Percussion Warmups"!

There are 10 warmups in each level with CLAPS, SNAPS, STOMPS, and SNAPS, all indicated on the powerpoint slide. Count your kids off with a few prep beats and watch them go!

Also terrific for reading in some of the younger grades who are not familiar with standard notation and need a warmup to reading using these icons.

Use the included background tracks (90bpm to 110bpm) or put on your favorite music so the kids can jam along!

Additional worksheets (can be used and assigned digitally), reinforce elements of the story such as animal sounds, and rhythm decoding. Adaptable for grades PreK-2nd grade.

In Holly Jolly Rhythms, your kids will be challenged to body percussion like never before!

Students will see familiar Christmas characters and items along with body percussion that go along with the characters. They will use a series of claps, pats, stomps, and snaps indicated by clip art in beat boxes read from left to right
If everyone in class performs the body percussion PERFECTLY, you will move onto the next character… and then… A Present will drop into Santa’s sleigh if the students perform a certain number of the Holly Jolly Rhythms correctly!

You will control the amount of time the students can do this. You can put on a holiday song (2, 3, or 4 minutes long) or set a timer, and upon the conclusion, see how many presents they've amassed at in Santa's Sleigh!

It gives the kids an ending goal to get as many presents as they can along with aligning syllabic language to modified notation.

Here come the Little Jammers! This new program from ZSMP/Seckman Music Studio is a Kids Band Discovery curriculum that teaches students the basics of playing Guitar, Keyboard, Drums, and a little singing as well! Little Jammers uses colored notes on the staff and instruments to allow kids to visually learn the music.

This Preview Pack includes 5 of the 21 songs from the full program curriculum. In the pack, you'll have the lessons plans, set-up instructions, band books for the kids, 10 backing tracks, and teacher scores for the 5 songs. Preview Pack materials are studio-licensed so you may make as many copies as needed, but the Little Jammers name may not be used; song titles can be published for programs and concerts.

You will need additional material and instruments for this program such as: Half-sized guitar, jr drumset, small synth/keyboard, amplifier and appropriate cables, all explained in the set-up material.

In your primary grades, the voice can have many different timbres. It can be sung as an aria, yelled from the roofed top, whispered quietly, and spoken normally. In "The VoiceSSSS!", we concentrate on the four methods of using our voice, a key in identifying and practicing the methods: S - Spoken S - Sung S - Soft (Whisper) S - Shout Students see a display 1 through 8 to SPEAK on a steady beat (3 background tracks included, from 80 to 100+bpm). As they read these numbers on a steady beat, there will be numbers highlighted in yellow that will be a different characteristic. Some may be sung, whispered, or shouted (have fun with the shouts) :) Each slide is completely different and will challenge your kids as you count them off so they can experiment vocally For the sing, there is no definitive pitch, so I ask them to make up a middle or high pitch on the number given. You can take turns boys and girls, you can play it as a class, or however you wish Some are quite tricky -- kids may have to switch up to 4 different vocal styles by the end! Looking for a way to incorporate the Little Blue Truck books into your music classroom or jazz up your reading time of the Little Blue Truck series? These songs written for the Little Blue Truck books summarize what happens in the book while using the almost the same exact melody. Once your students have learned the first melody for Little Blue Truck, the melody stays mostly the same but the lyrics change with each different Little Blue Truck book that you own. This makes it easier to plug into future lessons involving these books. When it comes time to discuss timbre, instrument families, ranges, and the alike, you need instant samples of instruments. I used to do it the old way -- finding a specific piece of music, cueing it up in the CD player or mp3, and implement it in my lesson. It took a lot of time and extra preparation on my part to find those clips and segment them for my class... Here's the solution -- Band and Orchestra Instrument Samples. Included are 25 REAL sampled instruments, all the way from the Piccolo down to the Marimba.
