✏️CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RF.K.3.B : I can associate the long sounds with the common spelling for the five major vowels.

✏️CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RF.1.3.C: I can know final -e for representing long vowel sounds.

✏️CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RF.2.3.A: I can distinguish long vowels when reading one-syllable words.

How it Works:

1. Students may start at ANY card with their pencil and paper on a clipboard. If this is too much to carry: Adjust the activity, by “hiding” the cards around the classroom writing surfaces such as tables and desks and have a pencil at each station.
2. Write the number of the starting card in the top left square.
3. Look at the picture, say what it is and think about what letters/word matches.
4. Walk around the room searching for the letter/word match of the picture located in the oval in the top right of another card.
5. When found, write the answer on the line in the first box.
6. Following the arrow on their paper to box 2, write the number of this card in the box on the top left.
7. Repeat until all boxes are full. Students should return to starting card when completed.

These cards are so much fun my students beg me to work with them! I let them choose their manipulative; whether it is play-dough to tap, legos, chips, or blocks! This also gives those kiddos struggling with blending and segmenting a concrete method to gain those skills!
