When it comes to writing, suggesting prompts can be extremely helpful for students. By providing a prompt, you can give students a specific topic or area to focus on, which can help them better organize their thoughts and ideas. Additionally, writing prompts can help spark creativity and encourage students to think outside the box.

This is a fun and silly St. Patrick's Day activity to get your students writing. They can read the poem Five Crazy Leprechauns and then create their own little poem. There is a page that lays out the way to write the poem. Students will need to know what an adjective and verb is. If you have older students and want to extend it for them print the 'Create your own Leprechaun Poem' table twice and have the students start at 10 leprechauns. You can choose whether your students have to rhyme or if it is a free style poem. There are so many ways you can use this in the classroom. Included is also a cute page for them to write their own poem on.

Contents:
This fun and imaginative Disguise a Candy Corn Writing Activity gives students a chance to bring their creativity to life by designing a candy corn and writing a story to match! This set includes a parent letter to introduce the activity, a brainstorming page for generating ideas, and a final draft planning sheet to organize thoughts. Reflective questions prompt students to think about how their candy corn’s disguise will help it stay hidden. When to use this resource in the classroom:

These activities can be used from the first week of school. Following instructions, mastering step-by-step directions can start at any time during the school year. Students will love using these pages as their confidence grows as each step shows dotted line additions that add a version of what each step looks like.

As language develops during the year, students can add details, descriptions, or story starters to prompt creative writing.

I personally use these texts with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in French Immersion. I feel confident that students from Kindergarten to Grade Three will find these most useful and teachers can come back to the texts with any students who may be experiencing challenges in their French reading skills.
