Glimmers, which are the opposite of triggers are those moments of pure joy and serenity that light up their lives. I use the materials to share and practice glimmers with my students & after just 3 days back the kids have already started using the term "glimmer" when something brings them joy!

The word Glimmers originates from Deb Dana, LCSW, psychotherapist, and author who coined the term. Glimmers which is the opposite of a trigger are those fleeting instances that bring us warmth and peace, offering a profound positive impact on our mental health. This product includes 1 social story that focuses on being misunderstood. Vocabulary that is reviewed and discussed in depth include misunderstood, communication, judge, feeling insecure, anxiety, depression, positive self-esteem, and negative self-esteem.

Students will learn about feeling misunderstood, how someone could feel misunderstood, what can cause someone to feel misunderstood, how someone feels when they have positive self-esteem, how someone feels when they have negative self-esteem, how to build self esteem, and if someone feels misunderstood how they would feel.

One social story that focuses on feeling misunderstood is included in this product. The social story includes comprehension questions throughout. Some of the questions require students to put their feet in the shoes of the characters. This product shares with students the importance of communicating how one feels when they feel misunderstood, listening to others, understanding others point of view or feelings, and discussing interests that are different amongst friends/family members.

At the end of the product, you will find 4 role-playing cards that relate with feeling misunderstood. Students can role-play each situation and talk about how they would feel if they were in the situation.
