Classical Music Activities | Build a Superhero
By Agee and Row Classical Music Appreciation
"My students loved creating their "Music Superheroes!" while we listened to superhero theme songs! They really enjoyed listening to the classical pieces chosen and were excited to find pieces they had heard before in class." - Music with Mrs. Kennedy
Build a Classical Superhero! Each activity uses the students initial(s) to decode a music-inspired name, instrument, and theme song. Great for a back to school, mini class activity, or a music center.
The objective is to assemble a variety of musical qualities for the hero. Each superhero will have a different story, briefly told through their theme song and other choices. Creative writing or storytelling is encouraged.
Full-color pages for music centers/activities are included, with a variety of design and color options provided. The black & white version is also included.

IDEAS FOR USE:
•This is a FAVORITE of my class no matter what time of year (they love a good competition) and a quick and easy practice so they don’t forget their addition facts. Early in the year I often use dice with dots on them, so those that need to still count the dots can do so. Later in the year I switch out the dice for number cubes. Or you can use one of each.
•Run a set in BLACK & WHITE and place in a math center/station bucket. Place some dice in the basket for quick access. Students each need a different colored crayon.
•DAB IT – This can easily be played with a Bingo Dauber, each student chooses their own color.
•COLORED LAMINATED COPIES – I tried to make these colorful but yet not to use too much ink. The colorful games are so enticing and you don’t have to continue to make copies. Place a set of laminated game boards in a math center/station. Or, run on cardstock for thickness and slide into a plastic sleeve. Add some dice. Students can use dry erase markers to X their boxes, circling the picture when they capture it. OR They can use 2 different colors of unifix cubes to fill in their spaces.

"Christmas Carol" and "Grinch Who Stole Christmas" Compare/Contrast Activities
By Colleen Burdette
Festive way to make connections:
Students read or watch A Christmas Carol and How the Grinch Stole Christmas, my students read A Christmas Carol and watched How the Grinch Stole Christmas, for an engaging activity before the holiday. A Christmas Carol was a challenge for the students, so watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas was a fun distraction.
Students will take notes on the provided worksheets to help keep track of information and make connections in a visual format. Notetaking helps keep students engaged in both stories. This also helps the students look at well know material in a new way.
This active and engaging resource gets students moving and discussing. Students will make paper snowballs out of the provided cards. They will then use these for a snowball fight. When time is up, students will find a partner, uncrumple the paper, and have a discussion.
Students can reach connections and have discussions with the information they gather.

By E•Fish•ient Teaching
This is the perfect review of their 3rd grade math skills. They get to apply what they learned to the world around them. This would be ideal for the end of 3rd grade year for students to show what they have learned. Students will get to apply what they learned to their surroundings. This fun scavenger hunt has students walk around the school/playground and practice their math skills. They get to find real life math applications by finding arrays around them. Looking for symmetrical objects or finding the area of something on their playground or classroom. This is a hands on activity where each student can go at their own pace and explore their learning their own way. So many skills are practiced as students will make graphs, find polygons, find area, and so much more.
End the year with a bang and a fun review of their math skills. Or begin the 4th grade year with a fun review of the math skills they learned from 3rd grade.
What's Included:
This is a fun end of the year independent booklet to show what they know about 3rd grade math.
What other teachers are saying:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Emily V says, "This fun get up and move scavenger hunt got even my most reluctant students excited about math class--this is definitely a keeper! Thank you so much!"
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Just Another Smith says, "This resource was exactly what I needed for my class! I know that it says "end of year" but it really can be used at other times. I found it to be the perfect "no-prep" resource to review our math standards. My students enjoyed the activities and they even asked if we had more activities to add to the book. It was simple, easy to put together, and thoughtfully created with the actual math standards in mind. I will be buying more resources from this store!"
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️June says, "What a great way to get kids excited about learning through movement. So much more fun than seat work. The kids loved applying what they had learned in such an active way."

Mercantilism/Triangular Trade Game
By TxMAP Teacher
This product is intended to demonstrate how Triangular Trade worked in the the 17th and 18th centuries.
Materials Included:
- Country Profile Sheets
- Colony Profile Sheets
- Raw Material Cards
- Instruction sheet
Teaching Strategy:
- Note: Students should have been introduced to information on Triangular Trade and Mercantilism preceding this activity.
- Divide the class into teams of 6
- Give each group a Country Profile Sheet - have students read the information for their country
- Students will then be given their colony - this can be done randomly or strategically. - It is often more impactful to the lesson to have groups actually go out and “explore’ their colony. I have given students numbers and then put colonies around the room with only numbers attached to them.
- The colony envelope should include the colony profile and the appropriate amount of raw material cards.
- When all groups have their colonies and have read all things about their country and colony then they should form a strategy for trading to get their necessary resources.
- Groups will then start trading with other groups to get the resources they need.
- Leave time to debrief and possibly play again.
- Adjust rules as you see the need.

It is a good art game to use during the first and last week of school as an art sub-plan and an early finisher activity.
There are two ways to play it: cooperatively or competitively. I confess that I prefer cooperatively.
My students were so excited that some did it a few times until they got the gold medal (rulers on how to play are on the teachers' guide)

Secret Mission Behavior Management Activity to encourage positivity
By Until the Pieces Fit
Are you looking for an easy way to improve student behaviors? This is a fun, easy, print and go activity.
I use the secret missions with my students. Simply print the packet, cut out, and post the missions in your room (be sure to cover each mission with a "secret mission" card".
Then the magic begins. Each morning during your morning meeting time chose a kiddo to uncover a mission. Discuss the mission, the importance of it, what it looks like. I generally have a secret task force who also watches for the behaviors. Then when your children are "caught" they earn a party point/tally/ball (whatever reinforcer you use) for your class. Currently my kids are working to earn hot chocolate with toppings.
I hope this is something fun for you and your kiddos. Please be sure to follow me for additional resources and updates!
