Students work on their \x3Cstrong>phonemic awareness, phonological awareness, decoding and encoding skills\x3C/strong> and as they master the target sound. Make a few copies of each card and insert into clear pockets to create a quick and easy reading centre; arrange a table with four copies to create a \x3Cstrong>quiet reading group\x3C/strong>; use one-on-one with your students to assess reading levels, to gain insights to their decoding skills, encoding skills, and to inform your upcoming lesson plans. Students use whiteboard markers to sound out each sound in the word, each syllable, or each word in the sentence. What a great way to build confidence! Whatever way you choose to use this resource, I am so grateful that you have given this item a try!\x3Cp>\x3Cstrong>Science of Reading:\x3C/strong>\x3Cp>These sentence strips are aligned with sounds being taught in any \x3Cstrong>Science of Reading\x3C/strong> aligned curriculum. They are set up for student success based on the research for \x3Cstrong>increasing reading fluency\x3C/strong> and \x3Cstrong>building student confidence\x3C/strong> in the classroom!\x3Cp>Once you have established the strategies for identifying sounds, initial sounds, and blending sounds, segmenting sounds, students will be able to use these self-driven sentence strips on their own. What a great way to build learning autonomy!\x3Cp>\x3Cstrong>Who can use this resource:\x3C/strong>\x3Cp>Teachers who are just getting accustomed to using strategies from the Science of Reading can use these simple sentence strips to open up independent practice, small group evaluation, or up on a digital screen for whole group instruction and reading practice.\x3Cp>Make a set and send them home with students to build fluency in reading and confidence in reading strategies.\x3Cp>Sentences are designed to build a number of \x3Cstrong>common French sounds\x3C/strong> and get more challenging as they go on.\x3Cp>Correction sheet is handy for use with a substitute as they can confidently assess students and command the lesson even when they are not assured of their French skills.\x3Cp>\x3Cstrong>What grade level:\x3C/strong>\x3Cp>I personally use these texts with \x3Cstrong>Grade 1 and Grade 2\x3C/strong> students in French Immersion. I feel confident that students from \x3Cstrong>K-3\x3C/strong> will find these most useful and teachers can come back to the texts with any students who may be experiencing challenges in their French reading skills. Core French teachers will be sure to add the resource to their repertoire for \x3Cstrong>Grades 4 to 6\x3C/strong> as they learn to read and write at the Junior level.\x3Cp>\x3Cstrong>If you love this resource:\x3C/strong>\x3Cp>\x3Cstrong>***1. Are you looking for an introduction lesson for teaching main idea? Are your students struggling with main idea and supporting details or just Listening skills in general? The secret to getting the main idea is to teach the student to identify the topic, and then teach the student to identify what the purpose of the narrative was (Entertain/ Inform/ Persuade/ Instruct).
This is A 36 card/slide Lesson with 36 multiple choice prompts and 36 open-ended prompts which allow you to determine if the student can grasp the main idea. Narratives get progressively more complex as the student moves through the cards. A 4 page PDF assessment in included.
The cards work well with any students grades 6-10 or best when used with students who have mild cognitive delays yet basic language skills. An independent lesson will take about 30 minutes however if you are using it as a teaching tool during instruction the lesson can easily fill 60 minutes with breaks in between for group discussion.
March Morning Meeting Work Slides
By Professional Development and Teacher Prep
Do your students need Morning Meeting ideas? Using different Morning Meeting ideas can lead to tremendous growth academically and socially. The fun Morning Meeting questions can be utilized along with your greeting and other activities. The spring Morning Meeting questions should be used during the month of March with your students but could be used during other months too.
There are Mardi Gras questions, St. Patrick Days questions, Women's History questions, and Deaf and Hard of Hearing questions to celebrate the different holidays in March. All of the questions are on Google Slides that can be used every morning during your Morning Meeting routine. All you have to do is bring up the next Google Slide each morning for that day. There are 20 EDITABLE and DIVERSE slides just for the month of March!
Students will create connections and develop deep discussions with the questions. Therefore, the skills they are learning during Morning Meeting will lead to connections within their reading texts. Students who practice those skills outside of reading will most likely utilize those same skills while reading.
Additionally, the March Question of The Day will create deep relationships between you and your students! If you have my other Morning Meeting Slides than you understand how powerful these questions can be!
This is also an excellent resource to use with your remote learners or to assign to your students’ laptops. You could assign one or more slides to their learning management system for morning meetings and writing or reading activities.

This is a great sheet for following directions and coming up with a strategy to follow those directions. It checks reading comprehension and knowing left and right as well. I use it with 6th graders to show how important carefully following directions can be. It could easily be used with younger grades or possibly older grades as well.

PHRASES DÉCODABLES 3- French Decoding Sentence Strips 3- SOR FRENCH Phonics
By La trousse de Madame
French Decodable activities that align with the Science of Reading in the K-2 French classroom. Students work on their phonemic awareness, phonological awareness, decoding and encoding skills and as they master the target sound. Make a few copies of each card and insert into clear pockets to create a quick and easy reading centre; arrange a table with four copies to create a quiet reading group; use one-on-one with your students to assess reading levels, to gain insights to their decoding skills, encoding skills, and to inform your upcoming lesson plans. Students use whiteboard markers to sound out each sound in the word, each syllable, or each word in the sentence. What a great way to build confidence! Whatever way you choose to use this resource, I am so grateful that you have given this item a try!
Science of Reading:
These sentence strips are aligned with sounds being taught in any Science of Reading aligned curriculum. They are set up for student success based on the research for increasing reading fluency and building student confidence in the classroom!
Once you have established the strategies for identifying sounds, initial sounds, and blending sounds, segmenting sounds, students will be able to use these self-driven sentence strips on their own. What a great way to build learning autonomy!
Who can use this resource:
Teachers who are just getting accustomed to using strategies from the Science of Reading can use these simple sentence strips to open up independent practice, small group evaluation, or up on a digital screen for whole group instruction and reading practice.
Make a set and send them home with students to build fluency in reading and confidence in reading strategies.
Sentences are designed to build a number of common French sounds and get more challenging as they go on.
Correction sheet is handy for use with a substitute as they can confidently assess students and command the lesson even when they are not assured of their French skills.
What grade level:
I personally use these texts with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in French Immersion. I feel confident that students from K-3 will find these most useful and teachers can come back to the texts with any students who may be experiencing challenges in their French reading skills. Core French teachers will be sure to add the resource to their repertoire for Grades 4 to 6 as they learn to read and write at the Junior level.
