This product is intended to demonstrate how Triangular Trade worked in the the 17th and 18th centuries.

Materials Included:

- Country Profile Sheets

- Colony Profile Sheets

- Raw Material Cards

Teaching Strategy:

- Note: Students should have been introduced to information on Triangular Trade and Mercantilism preceding this activity.

- Divide the class into teams of 6

- Give each group a Country Profile Sheet - have students read the information for their country

- Students will then be given their colony - this can be done randomly or strategically. - It is often more impactful to the lesson to have groups actually go out and “explore’ their colony. I have given students numbers and then put colonies around the room with only numbers attached to them.

- The colony envelope should include the colony profile and the appropriate amount of raw material cards.

- When all groups have their colonies and have read all things about their country and colony then they should form a strategy for trading to get their necessary resources.

- Groups will then start trading with other groups to get the resources they need.

- Leave time to debrief and possibly play again.

- Adjust rules as you see the need.

Categories include STATISTICAL QUESTIONS, DATA DISTRIBUTION, MEASURES OF CENTER, DATA DISPLAYS, SUMAMRIZE DATA, AND VOCABULARY. Points range from 100 - 500, which reflect the increase in difficulty from 100-point basic review questions to 500-point questions that require students to apply their knowledge.

**FULLY EDITABLE** While the game is complete, it is also editable in PowerPoint, making it easy to add questions or change the level of difficulty based on your students' needs.

STATISTICAL QUESITONS: questions require students to determine whether or not a question is statistical, and identify that variability is required for statistical questions.

DATA DISTRIBUTION: questions cover finding the range, explaining the shape of the data, and the 500 point question asks students to find the mean absolute deviation (MAD).

MEAURES OF CENTER: questions involve finding mean, median, and mode from both lists of data and after looking at various data displays.

DATA DISPLAYS: questions revolve around dot plots, histograms, frequency tables, and box plots.

SUMMARIZE DATA: questions require students to draw conclusions from data, determine possible questions asked, and connect data to different situations.

Simple instructions and game board are included along with multiple choices of blank calaveras for students to create their own unique sugar skull. With high student engagement, this multicultural resource is a great way to bring Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) into your classroom.

This resource includes a game board and instructions plus 2 blank game boards (dice numbers and all categories are included on 1, dice numbers and 2 categories with the rest of the categories blank on the other), multiple blank calaveras for students to use to create their calavera in the game plus so much more!

2 assessments - 1 for elements of art and 1 for principles of design are also included with a calavera so students can create a calavera using the elements or principles then describe their work for your assessment.

The game is perfect to leave as a sub lesson for grades 2-5 (or middle school). Laminate blank game boards and calaveras and let students design their own game using dry erase markers, then play the game they created, or simply print out paper copies. It can be used as an activity for students who finish another project early since it is self-directed and can be played by 1 or multiple students.
