Celebrate the 100th Day with older students:

I have transitioned from elementary school to middle school and am teaching drama. I felt this was a good class to try a fun, thoughtful 100th day activity.

Students will choose a person who could be a "character" either fictional or real. The person must be old (I said 80, but did lower the age to 75 for students who could make a good argument) but they do not have 100. I also allowed the students to choose someone who has passed away as long as they were old when they passed away. So, yes to Elaine Stritch, no to Marilyn Monroe.

Students will have a research worksheet to complete about this person which will help them give a presentation about this person. They may present as the person or present about the person.

This fun exercise helps students become very good at plotting points on the coordinate plane. The exercise combines a love middle school students have for drawing with an essential mathematical skill.
