The poem Déjeuner du Matin is spectacularly well known in France, and it's especially easy to understand when you follow all of the steps in this lesson plan.

• practice the passé composé - regular, irregular, and reflexive verbs
• gain knowledge of French literature, especially Jacques Prévert
• begin to understand French culture through poetry
• explore and identify emotions in French

Completed with a partner, students will analyze how writers use metaphors in poetry by looking at examples. The PDF provides multiple examples to guide students. Writing a Biography Poem can be a fun and interesting project for your students. Students will learn what a biography poem is, why we write a biography poem, the 10 lines that make up a biography poem and what is included in each of those lines, and for lines 2-10, a chart is included that provides students with numerous examples or ideas that they can include on each line of the biography poem. Students will also learn what is included in a biography poem.
