Editable Student Name Tags

I have been using these name badges in my classroom for the past 3 years. I love the feedback I get from Substitute Teachers when they tell me how much they appreciate having students names at the ready. Personalised Name Tags for each student makes for clear communication. Classroom management goes so much more smoothly when everyone knows each other's names.

And we all know, a happy Sub will keep coming back! And in these crazy times, that means everything!

Who can use these name tags:

Teachers of any grade from K-6 can definitely benefit from having these names at the ready. New teachers learning student names at Back To School time. Teachers on long term contract may want these handy name tags when they know they will only be around a few weeks.

I keep a note in my Substitute Emergency plans to let them know where to find the Clip-on Tags in my room.

Where to keep them:

I keep mine attached to student cubby bins so that they know where to find their stuff at the beginning of the year when we are just getting accustomed to the new classroom.

They are so proud the first time they put them on! They feel so 'professional'!

How to use the name tags:

-Open the file

-Fill in Teacher name and room number on the first slide

-Immediately click on the slide, right click, and duplicate slide so you have enough cards for your number of students

-Now fill in student names, copy, cut, and laminate

-using a hole punch make two holes just below the top line side by side

-slip through a snap clip so students can clip the tags to their clothes

Product Information:

These editable award templates are in PowerPoint form. You will download files in a flattened and secured PowerPoint file format. This format will allow editing and rearranging of text, text changes and editing font colors, etc. You can rearrange the lines and add logos and clipart where room allows. Please note that the Clipart is not editable.

If you do not have PowerPoint then you can use a free on-line version at www.officelive.com - you just need to create an account.

You can change the font to whatever you prefer - I know I have favorites! The font used in the templates are free font. Potato Chips font and Poppins fonts are used and can be downloaded for free (personal use only) by clicking on the links.

The Graduation Awards or Certificates are designed to fit on 8.5" x 11" paper and can be reduced or enlarged at the time of printing if needed or can be printed 2 or 4 per page using your printer's settings. If A4 size is needed then you can adjust the template to fit A4 paper size at the time of printing by clicking FIT TO PAGE. Border-free printing will depend on your printer's capability and settings.

The awards and certiifcate are for classroom and/or personal use of the person downloading only.

This lesson and craft activity on anger management helps students personify and project their anger onto their own monster that they create with the therapeutic aim to reflect and gain insight. Supporting children to personify anger can help make it easier with managing anger in children.

This activity on anger management has been successful at supporting students who experience anger management issues to explore what makes them angry, as well as anger management strategies. This intervention asks students to create a representation of anger and give it a name. By externalizing anger though this activity on anger management, it becomes something that they can deal with and manage. It is no longer an abstract idea that children have no control over. It becomes manageable.

 This activity on anger management helps to create a sense of personal awareness and insight into their own anger. The Angry Monster can also act as an outlet so that the Angry Monster can hold onto the anger, helping to compartmentalize the stress and anger so that the student doesn’t have to.

 Further discussion ideas for integration might include exploration of the various emotional regulation and anger management themes and trends that arise during this intervention.

In this Mini Socratic Seminar students will have Socratic dialogue in small groups in order to discuss and plan for a social contract. By the end of this lesson your students will have a deep understanding of what it means to have a cooperative and inclusive environment for learning!

Preparation:

• Share the essential question with students
• Provide time for all students to record the essential question and their personal thoughts/questions.
• Share the opening question which has no single “right” answer, is framed to generate dialogue leading to greater understanding of the ideas.
• The teacher may share all possible discussion questions with students before the seminar or the teacher may share only one question at a time.

Seminar:

• Students are placed in small groups or virtual break out rooms of 5-6 students.
• Teacher poses the essential question.
• Students respond to the question through writing their own questions using Costas.
• Teacher chooses a Socratic Seminar leader for each group.
• The leader facilitates the seminar discussion by guiding group members to a deeper and clarified consideration of the ideas, a respect for varying points of view, and adherence to and respect for the seminar process.
• Students may pose new questions when the discussion is exhausted. New questions posed must relate to students’ ideas and contributions in response to the initial essential question.
• Students write a list of classroom norms with their group.

Need an awesome Movement Activity? I have just the thing for you! This creative Conscious Discipline “Breathing Pose” resource was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. It is best to use one of these images per day or per week, so these resources can last a while. Focus on the specific animal shown and discuss where this animal would be and how it would breathe and pose to gain focus. Make sure you demonstrate the pose with your class. Ask a student to help demonstrate this pose, and the sillier you are, yet focused, the more the students will want to participate with you in each of these fun and motivating animal breathing poses. Using cootie catchers (fortune tellers) to get students speaking to each other and to help them get to know their classmates better is a great idea at any time of the year. Your students already love them, and cootie catchers are the perfect ice breaker activity for back to school.
