This lesson will have students explore the two systems of ‘Capitalism’ and ‘Socialism’. Students will go beyond the surface level of understanding, and will be prompted to apply their knowledge of these two economic systems to a distant, isolated culture called ‘Ladakh’, who have been dramatically transformed by “development” or capitalism. Students will analyze a documentary film and identify examples of each economic system.
