This no-prep, self-grading Spanish digital game will allow your students to practice Spanish subject pronouns. Each slide has a name or description of a person or persons and 4 different subject pronouns to choose from. Students will choose the correct pronoun to replace the person. If they choose correctly, they continue along the path. But an incorrect answer will send them back to redo that section! (Easel version does not have this function - it will mark each slide correct/incorrect.)

AP Spanish® teachers: save time searching for the right video for your students! This Google Doc contains a link to a Youtube video and a viewing guide perfect for Unit 5: Los factores que influyen en la calidad de vida.  The accompanying activity is digital and printable!

Explore how where you live impacts your quality of life as you watch a video showing a day in the life of a high school student in Spain. This 5-minute video does not have narration, but rather shows students what a typical estudiante del insti does from the time the wake up until their school day is over. Though this activity won't function as a listening practice, it highlights the products, practices and perspectives of people living in Spain. This resources includes two versions of each story:

• Version A has the verbs already conjugated, and the students must choose between the preterite and imperfect tenses of the verb.
• Version A also includes true/false comprehension questions in the past tense and students must correct the false statements.
• Version B includes only the infinitive, so they must first decide which tense to use (preterite or imperfect) and then fill in the blank with the correct form of the verb.
• Version B also includes comprehension questions to be answered in complete sentences in Spanish in the past tense.

Each version of the story with questions is between two and three pages long. The two different versions of every story make differentiation simple!

New to teaching AP® Spanish Language and Culture?  Consider your Unit 2 Lesson Plans (La influencia de la lengua y la cultura en la identidad) done!  These digital AND printable lesson plans have nearly every activity you will need linked in.  Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking, Activities that combine 2 skills, homework, assessments and even projects are all included! Students will learn how to complete the AP Exam Argumentative Essay and Simulated Conversation in this unit as well as practice the reading and listening multiple choice style questions.  Best of all, these lesson plans do NOT require that you have a particular textbook!

Teaching a new course, or even trying to revamp a course you’ve taught for a while can be overwhelming.  These complete unit lesson plans will take you through the entire 2nd unit for The Influence of Language and Culture on Identity starting with a “Hook Activity” to spark interest and then the essential questions, vocabulary list and grammar study guide you will need to get started. I am fortunate to have several textbook resources including Temas, AP Spanish Preparing for the Language and Culture Examination and Avance.  In these lesson plans I make use of these textbooks for 4 out of 60+ activities.  However, especially after teaching on-line for a year, I have moved away from relying on textbooks and I create most of the activities myself. This makes these lesson plans very versatile and usable for anyone!  For teachers who need or like to teach digitally, all of the activities in this bundle can be assigned via Google Classroom or other learning management system. And almost every activity is also printable for teachers and students who prefer paper copies.  Best of all, once you have these activities in your Google Drive, you can edit and adapt anything to suit your needs!

I have been teaching AP® Spanish Language and Culture since 2014 and have 24 years of teaching experience.  My students have done overwhelmingly well on the AP® exam over the years and almost all have earned the scores needed to get college credit, with many receiving 4’s and 5’s. I also teach this course as an Early College Experience in collaboration with the University of CT, as another way for students to earn college credit.

I start the year with a set of lesson plans designed to last one week.  It is linked below.  We do all the paper-passing, signing up for different apps and classrooms, and become comfortable with the course and our classmates.  We also present our summer homework, also linked below.  Next I teach Unit 1: Families in Different Societies. This unit starts as if all of the beginning of the year “housekeeping” has been done already.   That resource is also linked below.  AP teachers are allowed to teach the units in any order they would like, but I recommend that if you plan to use this series of lesson plans, that you go in order. I choose to introduce the AP test open-ended tasks over time so that students are not overwhelmed.  By unit 3, they will have learned the purpose, rules and resources for all of the tasks and can spend the last 3 units practicing them some more.

Spanish students can practice conversing with these simulated conversations.  Answering questions can be difficult for students, but these 5 interpersonal speaking tasks give students some general information about what they will hear and how they should answer.  An audio link accompanies each conversation, with a 20 second timed pause for students to answer.  There is also a rubric for easy feedback!

It’s a perfect way to practice and assess your students’ knowledge of the preterite and imperfect tenses in Spanish.

This file includes two versions of each story:

• Version A has the verbs already conjugated, and the students must choose between the preterite and imperfect tenses of the verb.
• Version A also includes true/false comprehension questions and students must correct the false statements.
• Version B includes only the infinitive, so they must first decide which tense to use and then fill in the blank with the correct form of the verb.
• Version B also includes comprehension questions to be answered in complete sentences in Spanish.

Each story is 2-3 pages long. An answer key for both versions of each story is included in the download. The two different versions make differentiation simple!

• a mini pictorial vocab list in color and black & white
