Author's Purpose Project - Creating an AD to Persuade

By A Teachers Sidekick

This is an integrated project that focuses on the Persuade portion of Author's Purpose. I integrated this project with my science unit (Human Impacts on the earth) and my social studies unit (How people can help our planet). Students were tasked with creating an ad to persuade their audience to help with a world problem (Deforestation, Pollution, etc).

All of the graphic organizers we used, PowerPoints with ads and videos of world problems, and the checklist for the ad is included in this product. The students get to explore ads already created and review them. Then they research some of the world problems. After this they are placed in groups and then using a random wheel, are given a world problem. They then identify the impacts of the problem and come up with some solutions. Then they begin to plan their ad and once approved by their teacher, they began creating their ad!

In my classroom, my students wanted to try and create commercials. So we used the Canva app (usually free for educators) and the students worked together to create their commercials.

I hope this product is useful and gets your students engaged. Please rate and review.

Plant Cell Labeling 3D Diorama Science Project Pop Up Craft Activity

By That One Cheerful Classroom

Make reviewing plant cells fun with this engaging hands-on 3D diorama science craft project! Students learn about plant cells and then decorate a shoe box based on what they learned! Students are responsible for decorating the box and putting a creative scene inside that represents an plant cell. Students love it when they get to do projects and make their learning come to life!

Here’s what you’ll get:

  • pre-colored pages for a quick cut and prep
  • black and white pages for students to color their own background and pieces
  • rubric for easy grading
  • research page for students to record their learning
  • planning page for students to map out how they want their diorama to look

What is a diorama?

A diorama is a three-dimensional scene built to illustrate a topic. Dioramas are small scenes created with layers of materials. A diorama can be made out of a shoe box or similar box that includes a variety of information and pictures about a topic.

Students create a diorama by cutting, coloring, painting, and gluing pieces inside the box to create a model that shows a situation, such as a historical event or animals in their natural environment. Students can be encouraged to add real features such as grass, sand, sticks, etc.

The dioramas do not come with specific assembly instructions. Students should learn about the plant cell first, and use the pieces within this resource to creatively build their own unique diorama! This is a fun way for students to learn and get hands-on with the lesson/topic.

Prep is quick and easy... print the pieces on cardstock for durability and let your students explore the water as an enrichment activity to your lesson plan.

Forms of Energy in my Car | Science, Art & Writing Project

By Nardine Mettry

Calling all young designers and engineers! Today, we're embarking on a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) adventure to create and explore the energetic world of cars!

What's Included?

  1. **Design Your Dream Car (Art & Design)
**Print out the provided car template, cut out the pieces, fold them along the designated lines, and assemble your 3D car model using glue. You can even decorate it with your favorite colors and details!
Draw & design a one-of-a-kind car [or design the 3D one] showcasing its unique features and design.
  2. Powering Your Ride (Science)
    Energy in Motion:
Cars are amazing machines that use different forms of energy to move. Think about at least THREE different forms of energy used in a car and describe them in your own words.
    For example:
Chemical Energy: Where does the energy come from that fuels the car? Is it gasoline, electricity, or something else?
Kinetic Energy: Once the car starts moving, what kind of energy does it possess?
Other Forms of Energy: Are there any other types of energy at play in a car's operation (e.g., sound energy, thermal energy)
  3. **Narrative Time (English)
**Let them imagine themselves taking a fantastic ride in their dream car! It's time to write a short story or narrative describing their exciting journey.
