Social Emotional Learning Projects

Are you looking for a fun and engaging way to add classical music to your classroom or homeschool? Classical music has been shown to provide numerous benefits for children, including reducing stress, improving focus and concentration, and increasing creativity. These activities are great for music appreciation and also help build social-emotional skills! Each activity is easy to set up (no glue required!) and a great way to engage students for Valentine's Day.

Listening Buddies sheets feature a piece of classical music with the composer’s name. While the music plays, students draw a scene in the box inspired by the music. They can also explore the feelings and mood of a piece by choosing meaningful keywords that match their listening experience. Students color the listening buddy at the top of the page or you can print the color version.

There are no wrong answers, and no musical training is required. Just print and play! Music is available on YouTube or your preferred streaming service.

This activity pack features one music selection from Sweet February Mindful Listening! Students can color their black & white listening buddy page topper or you can print the color version.

This project encourages students to choose an SEL topic of their own interest and create a presentation and activity as if they were delivering a lesson on it.

This project allows students to take the format of SEL lessons they've learned from and practice using it themselves to find, understand, and share information. This benefits individual students, as they can explore information of interest, and allows the educator to gauge what topics their students are curious about for future lessons.

If you have students present their lessons they also get practice talking about SEL topics and respectfully listening to peers do the same. I find this to be a great end of year project to wrap up SEL learning.

With presentations this project can be made to take up a whole week of SEL instruction (based on a 30-45 minute period a day). Day 1 students can hand in their topic and activity idea for teacher feedback, days 2-3 students can create the material, and day 4-5 students can present. Examples are simple for clarity and to suit a range of students, but expectations can be adjusted based on grade-level. This project includes a packet with clear instructions (with examples) and space for students to write their chosen topic and activity, an example slideshow, and two example activities that accompany the slideshow.

• Engages students in an immersive project where they create a digital yearbook based on a novel. This resource facilitates a deeper understanding of characters, themes, and events using Google Slides.

This creative Art Room Gaming Badges Activity was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. *NOTE: this is a yearly event; it will take most of a full school year for any student to complete all 30 gaming badges…and that’s a good thing! *Students may try for any badge, in any order, however, students will want to start working on gaining easy gaming badges first, before trying to get the harder ones done. *Once students accomplish the criteria for a certain badge, either the teacher or the student may take colored pencils (only) to color the accomplished badge, so it looks similar to the completed version. *Move on to completing another great gaming badge. This product includes 1 social story that focus on feeling confused. The short story includes comprehension questions throughout. Some of the questions require students to put their feet in the shoes of the character who was experiencing confusion. When students are reading each story, they will review feeling confused, what happens when they feel that way, and what happens to someone when they are confused. They can also use strategies learned in this social story throughout their day to day routine. The vocabulary word confusion is reviewed and discussed, the questions: how do you feel when you are confused is asked and how can you make yourself feel better if you feel confused. Examples of feeling confused are reviewed in this product.
