The resource also included is a comprehension check and answer key so that teachers can assess whether students have understood important details from the handout.

Learning about the history of the Roman Republic will provide students with the contextual information necessary for understanding certain lines in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. You could have students read this handout for homework before starting the play; or you could have students read the handout aloud together in class before giving them the comprehension check worksheet.

Palestinian & Israeli: One question Two Perspectives

In this ebook you will find ten questions posed twice. One response is from a Palestinian & one from an Israeli. The views are moderate, but perspectives are clearly seen and can provide comparative insights into their respective perspectives. 

By asking these questions to both interviewees, we can compare the nuanced views that exist on either side of the conflict. It is important to approach these conversations with empathy and an open mind, as the answers will reflect deeply held beliefs and experiences shaped by a complex history and challenging realities.

The questions are followed by 10 potential assignments and projects aimed at a grades 9 to 12.

Here is a list of 10 questions that you can ask both a moderate Gazan Palestinian and a moderate Israeli:

1. Historical Narrative: How do you understand the history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and how does that history inform your perspective on the current situation?
2. Personal Impact: In what ways has the conflict directly affected your life and the lives of those closest to you?
3. Security Concerns: How do you perceive the issues surrounding security and safety for your community, and what measures do you believe are necessary to improve them?
4. Political Solutions: What political solution do you envision as being the most fair and sustainable to address the issues of the conflict?
5. Land and Settlements: What is your stance on the issue of land, settlements, and the right of return for refugees?
6. International Role: How do you view the role of international actors, such as the United States or the United Nations, in resolving the conflict?
7. Daily Coexistence: Are there areas of daily life where you see successful coexistence between Israelis and Palestinians, and what can be learned from these examples?
8. Education and Misconceptions: What role do you think education plays in perpetuating or resolving the conflict, and what misconceptions might people on each side have about the other?
9. Economic Factors: How do you believe the conflict has shaped the economic situation for Palestinians and Israelis, and what economic changes would you propose to support peace efforts?
10. Vision for Peace: Can you describe your personal vision for peace and how individuals from both societies can contribute to achieving it?

This is a powerpoint presentation that introduces close reading skills of informational texts to students. I created this product last year in order to align with Common Core Standards. Powerpoint reviews the definition of close reading then outlines the 4 major steps of close reading: START WITH THE END IN MIND, NUMBER PARAGRAPHS, "CHUNK" TEXT, and ANNOTATE. My student feedback has been very positive as this is a structured and straightforward approach to close reading informational texts. This powerpoint serves as an excellent introduction to the kind of close reading students need to do for the PARCC test as well as for the Common Core. How to incorporate this powerpoint into your own lessons: Begin by introducing close reading skills with this powerpoint. Then, pass out a short article (I find mine at Kelly Gallagher's Article of the week http://www.kellygallagher.org/article-of-the-week) and model the steps with your students. I put the article up on the SMARTBoard and hand out a copy to each student so we can do it together. This scavenger hunt is a fun way for students to learn fun and interesting facts about Ukraine while bringing attention to the country & culture. Students can work together to complete the scavenger hunt bringing unity to the classroom. Activity pages at the end give students the opportunity to reflect and even express their emotions.

This resource does not directly address the current climate or war in Ukraine. This resource was designed to teach about the beauty of Ukraine and its rich culture. I have found many students have been flooded with information and images of the war from different media source. This gives students insight to what Ukraine was like before the war.

With this interactive scavenger hunt students will learn fun and interesting facts about Ukraine. For example: Did you know Ukraine used to be apart of another country? Or that Ukraine is about the same size as Texas? The scavenger hunt includes 20 fact cards and asks students to read the cards closely for information to fill in the answer

This scavenger hunt will still work broken into shorter segments for multiple lessons or a shorter activity.

This scavenger hunt also works well as a scoot game!

This highly engaging, primary based, interactive Slide Presentation will have students examine; the underlying roots from which the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) came to exist in America, the organization's primary tactics of using intimidation & fear in fighting against social equality, and why many poor whites were recruited to join the KKK organization. Students will delve deeper by comparing the circumstances and social conditions of two former KKK leaders (one who lived during the era of Jim Crow, and the other of present day).

Class discussion, and critical thinking is promoted throughout the entire lesson.
