This creative It’s just a Circle! Or is it? : Art Unit was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on the big screen.

For this assignment, I asked students to make an awesome artwork out of a simple “circle”. Students start with a brainstorming circle paper. After brainstorming different circle designs, students choose their favorite for a Final Copy Paper. Art materials could be colored pencils, crayons, watercolor paint, and/or color sharpies. *CONTRAST, PATTERN, REPETITION, MOVEMENT, ETC. This is a 2-3-day assignment.

In this product, Coyote School News is read and reviewed. In this product, students will read the text, Coyote School News. Students will review/learn what a historical fiction text is and will have the opportunity to identify historical fiction texts and come up with possible historical fiction story ideas. As students read the text, Coyote School News, they will answer comprehension questions using this product. They can complete these questions individually, in a small group, or with support. There are several pages of comprehension questions in this packet that differ from the questions asked in the teacher edition. The questions from the text are adapted in this packet to meet each of your student's needs. At the end of the packet, students will answer comprehension questions about the author, Joan Sandin. At the end of the packet is a template and the steps necessary for your students to write a newspaper article as well.

For this assignment, I asked students to get with a partner or into small groups and brainstorm subject matter, orientation, and theme of the overall composition. Plus, decide which group member(s) will be in charge of what to draw and where to draw it. Students will need to sketch out ideas first inside a sketchbook, transfer the sketches to Final Copy Paper, outline the large image, and start coloring in everything with crayon. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. For this assignment, I asked the students to start right on a 18x24-inch Final Copy Paper. Students were asked to draw 15-30 large flowers all over their paper. Students were allowed to paint the flowers with any colors they wanted. When the artwork was dry students outlined all the flowers with a black sharpie marker. Some collage skills were added to the assignment at the end of the unit when students needed to cut/glue down strips of construction paper to the bottom of the Final Copy Field of Flowers, to look like fence posts. In this product, students will learn about World War 1, common names used for this war, how this war was started, when it started, who was involved in it - Allies, Central Powers, who remained neutral during the war, and when America joined in on the war, which side they were on, and why they joined the war, why Americans didn't want to get involved in World War 1 in the beginning, the ocean liner - Lusitania and how that influenced America to join the war, Woodrow Wilson and his part in the war, what Allies means, trenches that were built in the battlefield and why, how long soldiers stayed in them and why, who surrendered at the end of World War 1, when the war ended, how many soldiers died during the war, the treaty that signed at the end of the war and who signed it, how countries changed after the war, the jobs that women had after World War 1, when women could vote - the 19th Amendment, the order in which the first 15 states gave women the right to vote, the 3 states that ratified the 19th Amendment, African Americans after World War 1 and how this was the beginning of the civil rights movement, where African Americans moved after World War 1, the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendment and how they were important in the United States.

The notes are adapted to meet your student's individual learning needs. Throughout the product, after each page of notes is reviewed, students will answer comprehension questions to review what was discussed on previous pages. For this assignment, I did a demo and taught the class how to trace lids/containers and how to use a ruler/yardstick. Measurement was a strong focus of the lesson. Students traced a large lid/container on Final Copy paper. Students used a ruler/yardstick to make straight lines: vertical, horizontal, and diagonal. Students made some lines thin and some lines very thick. Students traced everything with a black sharpie marker. For this assignment, I asked students to make an Underwater Perspective Walkway, celebrating the joy of 1-point perspective and sea life. Students brainstorm their ideas in a sketchbook and learn how to draw in 1-point perspective (step-by-step demonstrations). Measurements w/ rulers and yardsticks are learned. A compass is used for the curves. Students take the sketch to Final Copy paper and outline important features. Materials will be mainly colored pencils and transparent watercolor blue wash paints. This is a 3-5-day assignment.

Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. For this assignment, I asked the students to create a couple sketches of what their insect jar would look like. Next, I asked the students to re-draw their sketch on a Final Copy paper and outline it with a black sharpie marker. Students spent 1-2 class periods coloring (w/colored pencils) the insects and other objects inside their jar, plus, the background around the jar. Students used a transparent blue watercolor to paint the inside of their insect jar. All finished! I hope you and your kiddos love this! Enjoy.

The graphic novel, Act by Kayla Miller is great for children ages 8 - 14, as they can relate with the characters. My students enjoyed this book because it is a book about friendship, being mature, supporting your friends, being a good sport, leader, etc., and solving problems with friends and in life. This book does not have chapters, so comprehension questions were separated by pages. Therefore, written comprehension skills are emphasized while reading. At the end of this product, there are a variety of short answer writing prompts to choose from.

The comprehension questions in this product relate with the text as well as students own experiences. Vocabulary words, their meanings, and a few example sentences are presented in the packet. As the book is being read aloud, as students are reading the book or after the book has been read, students can answer the comprehension questions in this packet.

Need an awesome Art Unit? I have just the thing for you! This creative Fingerprint Flower Garden Scene was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. For this assignment, I asked students to use their pointer finger (no paint brush) to create the flower pedals. Students filled the paper with fingerprint flowers for one class period. During the second-class period, students used crayons and color markers to draw stems, leaves, grass, insects, and other things in their scene. I hope you and your kiddos love this! Enjoy.

This creative Picasso Self Portraits Unit was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this PDF file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. For this assignment, I asked students to sketch themselves in a Picasso-inspired style-abstract. Students exaggerated their facial features and placed them in different areas on their face. Students were asked to outline their artwork with a black sharpie marker. Students used watercolor paint to add vibrant, bold colors to their beautiful artwork. Contrast was a focus. In this product about physical fitness, students will learn about the different sports and activities that they can participate in, students will learn about the benefits of physical activity, blood pressure - things that can increase blood pressure and what blood pressure is, health fitness reviews - heart, lungs, muscles, and joints and how to maintain each of these is reviewed, cardiorespiratory endurance and the meaning is reviewed, what the heart rate is and students will also learn how to determine their heart rate, students will learn how they can improve cardiorespiratory endurance at home or in school, students will also learn what muscular endurance is, how to improve it, and the benefits of improving muscular endurance, what is flexibility and examples of how to be flexible, what is body composition, fat tissue, and lean tissue and how they are important in the body, students will learn about muscular strength and what they can do to improve muscular strength. Students will also learn about the 6 major fitness skills are, their meanings, and examples - agility, balance, coordination, reaction time, speed, and power, what the President's challenge is and what events are included in this event are all covered. Different kinds of workouts are discussed and reviewed along with examples - low-intensity physical activities, moderate-intensity physical activities, and vigorous-intensity physical activities and how they differ from each other, aerobic activities and examples, the process of a workout is reviewed - the warm up, target heart rate, specific exercises, training, overload, progression, and frequency, and what each of these terms mean. Students will also learn what FIIT means - Frequency, intensity, time, and type of exercise, and the importance of setting health goals - students will have time to do this in this product.

Throughout the product, students will answer comprehension questions that relate with the material that is carried out on each slide. Students can complete this as a group, independently, with a partner.

Students spent another two days creating a flowerpot collage artwork that showed similarities in color and patterns used to their drawing artwork.
