Need an awesome Art Unit? I have just the thing for you! This creative Insect Jar Scene was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. For this assignment, I asked the students to create a couple sketches of what their insect jar would look like. Next, I asked the students to re-draw their sketch on a Final Copy paper and outline it with a black sharpie marker. Students spent 1-2 class periods coloring (w/colored pencils) the insects and other objects inside their jar, plus, the background around the jar. Students used a transparent blue watercolor to paint the inside of their insect jar. All finished! I hope you and your kiddos love this! Enjoy.

This product focuses on the following areas: This product includes a 4 page teacher guide with tips and tricks when teaching mental health and mindfulness - focusing on feelings. Students will learn what feelings are, why it is important to talk about feelings, who to talk to about feelings, a list of feelings, situations that require students to identify the kinds of feelings that may be felt - students can write their response or circle the feeling picture provided on each page, students will also be provided with 5 picture of girls and boys showing different feelings. Students will be required to identify how these children are feelings. on the last slide is a blank human body image, where students can draw how they are feeling.

Next, I taught students how to draw insects symmetrically on scrap paper. I demonstrated how to draw a beetle symmetrically while students surrounding me. After drawing these lines, students outlined them with a crayon. Students painted each section with a different color of watercolor paints. This assignment is an excellent opportunity for students to get better with their painting skills. Students are responsible for two separate artworks for this assignment. Writing a play is a perfect project that gives students time to write about an event that happened in their life or an event that they made up. Once they are finished, they can share it with different groups of people and have their friends play each character. This packet includes information to share with your students about what a play is, what steps to follow when writing the beginning, middle and end of a play, why we write a play, who we write a play for, and tips to look for when rereading and editing. This packet also includes an example showing the process that is used to write with a play using a graphic organizer and an example of a play. On the last several pages, two templates are included to help students write the rough draft and final draft of their play that includes space for characters, props, act, scenes, and lines to show what their characters are saying.

Students were asked to draw 15-30 large flowers all over their paper. Students were allowed to paint the flowers with any colors they wanted. When the artwork was dry students outlined all the flowers with a black sharpie marker. Some collage skills were added to the assignment at the end of the unit when students needed to cut/glue down strips of construction paper to the bottom of the Final Copy Field of Flowers, to look like fence posts. For this assignment, I did a demo and taught the class how to trace lids/containers and how to use a ruler/yardstick. Measurement was a strong focus of the lesson. Students traced a large lid/container on Final Copy paper. Students used a ruler/yardstick to make straight lines: vertical, horizontal, and diagonal. Students made some lines thin and some lines very thick. Students traced everything with a black sharpie marker.
