33 Jigsaw pieces showing opposites with words and pictures.
Why do you need this?
Learning opposite words help expand students' vocabulary by introducing them to antonyms. By seeing and matching words and pictures representing opposites, students gain a deeper understanding of language and develop their word recognition skills.
Jigsaw puzzles are inherently interactive and engaging. Students actively participate in the learning process as they match the pieces together to form pairs of opposites. This hands-on approach promotes active engagement and enhances comprehension.
These could be used as a one off activity or for continual and regular use I would suggest cutting them out and laminating them to make them more durable.
How and when might you use this?
This activity can be used in a variety of ways:
· Introduction to opposites
· Vocabulary building
· Interactive learning centers
· Reinforcement of previous learning
· Assessment

"The Gift of the Magi" Language Study
By Colleen Burdette
Build understanding of unusual words and phrases:
When reading "The Gift of the Magi" my students came across several words and phrases that were unknown to them. Some of the words or phrases are out of date, some are not part of the students' life experience. This activity helps the students to build an understanding of the unknown words. This understanding helps to build comprehension of the story. Building vocabulary leads to stronger readers.
Students enjoy searching for images to help with understanding. They can search the images through Google or directly through the Google Slide.

Group Creative Writing: Practice Character, Setting, Conflict, & Resolution
By E•Fish•ient Teaching
This is such a fun creative writing activity. This activity has students work in a small group to create a fun and unique story. They will be passing around their writing outline to their group of 5. The first student will choose a character and their characteristics. Then fold the paper down so the next student cannot see what they have written. Student 2 will decide the setting and then fold the paper down again. This will continue to student 3 and 4 where they will choose the conflict and the solution. Then the original student will get their paper back and open their paper and use their outline to create their own creative story. This makes the writing a little bit challenging as they try to create a story that was chosen by their fellow classmates. This can also be a super fun and creative way to expand students writing by stretching them a little outside their comfort zone.
