Halloween Haikus: Creative Writing: Poetry

This is a spooktacular creative writing activity for Halloween. Create your own Halloween Haiku. Students will create their own Haiku about a Halloween topic. They will follow the 5, 7, 5 rule of a haiku and use their imagination to create a fun Halloween Haiku.
There are instructions on how to properly form a haiku and then there are two Halloween haiku examples. There is space for students to create two of their own haikus.
This activity is perfect for:

This product will allow your students to easily understand and analyze "We Wear the Mask" by Paul Laurence Dunbar by breaking it down line-by-line!
Instruct your students to fold the paper in half the long way, and to cut along the black lines into the midline of the paper. They will end up with a long, skinny version of the poem on the front of the flaps, and analysis question inside.
As they read the poem, they will peel back the flap to reveal questions that ask them to analyze the poem for theme, author's purpose, confict, word choice, tone, and imagery.
